位于乌干达西北部的 默奇森瀑布国家公园（Murchison Falls National Park）是该国面积最大的国家保护区之一，其地理、生态和旅行体验兼具丰富性与震撼感。

公园覆盖面积约 3,800 平方公里，位于 N w o y a、M a s i n d i、K i r y a n d o n g o 和 B u l i i s a 等区之间。名称“默奇森瀑布”源于英国探险家 Samuel Baker 19 世纪中期将 V i c t o r i a River 穿过峡谷、飞流直下约 40-50 米的瀑布命名为 “Murchison Falls”。地貌上，V i c t o r i a River 在此被压迫通过一个仅约 6-8 米宽的峡谷裂隙，然后倾泻而下。这使得瀑布成为非洲极具张力的景致之一。
名称由来与历史沿革
默奇森瀑布国家公园历史悠久，是乌干达最早设立的国家公园之一，其命名与探险历史紧密相关，体现了殖民时期地理探索与自然保护的结合。
主要地貌特征——尼罗河、峡谷与瀑布
公园内最著名的地标为瀑布，维多利亚河（V i c t o r i a River）在峡谷中形成高约 40-50 米的飞瀑，河岸林和开阔草原交错，使得生态系统多样化。
生态与野生动物多样性
公园生态丰富，从开阔的草原、棕榈林点缀的河岸、到南部的热带森林都有分布。
哺乳类动物亮点
- 大象群、水牛、长颈鹿、角马、狮子、豹等哺乳动物均可观察到
- 虽原生黑犀牛数量有限，但园区涵盖非洲五霸（Big Five）
鸟类与湿地生态
- 超过 450 种鸟类登记，热门观鸟对象包括鞋嘴鹳（Shoebill Stork）
- 湿地生态丰富，适合观鸟与生态摄影

北部多为草原与棕榈点缀，南部深入森林带，如 Budongo Forest 使得猿猴追踪成为可能。

最佳旅行时间
干季（旱季）一般在 6-9 月与 12-2 月，此时野生动物集中，路径状况较优；雨季适合观鸟、住宿较优惠，但道路有时泥泞。
交通方式
从首都 Kampala 或 Entebbe 出发，驾车约 4-5 小时。亦可搭乘内陆航班至 Pakuba、Bugungu 等空strip。

We were visiting on business as opposed to tourism - yet we still enjoyed the sights as we drove through the park to our destination. Lots of animals, excellent facilities and an enjoyable meeting and lunch at the middle of the park. I look forward to coming here as a tourist one day

This is Murchison falls national Park safari Through vast savannah vegetation, seeing animals like elephants,lions, Buffaloes, leopard and many others. Doing a nice 3hrs boat ride on the river nil e seeing hippos, crocodiles and many water birds. Endless views of the greater rift valley and the congo mountains. Murchison Falls National Park is one of my favourite destinations in Uganda. The park is home to a lot of wildlife like elephants (very huge), giraffes, lions and on a lucky day one can even see the elusive leopard. We did an early morning game drive. The highlight of the trip was an afternoon boat cruise on Victoria Nile. The leisurely boat trip gave us chance to see the Crocodiles and other animal species along the rive banks. There were lots of waterbirds as well. The boat trip leads top up to the bottom of the powerful Murchison water falls. What an amazing sight!!. We shall definitely visit again

Murchison Falls National Park gave us that real safari experience....saw so many creatures of God's creation roaming freely in its habitat. A beautiful view with some sightings every few minutes. The ride was a real roller coaster and so very exciting with an open jeep. Definitely an experience to last a lifetime!
